Help with Opening Files on MouseWizard® Masters CD-Rs

When your child brings home a CD-R with their work on, you may require some help with opening the files. Most of the files on your child’s disk will be JPEGS, so you will be able to open them with any software that you use for viewing photographs.  But there may be animations in the form of SWF or GIF files. You will find help with opening these below.

GIF Animations
Opening in Windows XP
Double click on the file & hopefully it will open with Windows Picture & Fax Viewer. If it doesn’t open, right click on the file & select ‘Open with...’.  Then choose Windows Picture & Fax Viewer.
You can also use QuickTime Player, but this may take a long time to open, so be prepared to be patient!

Opening in Windows 7
Right click on the file, select ‘Open with...’ & choose QuickTime. Play the animation by clicking on the play button.

SWF Shockwave Flash Files
To open Flash files you need to have Adobe Flash Player installed.  Please note that Flash files are not currently supported by Apple mobile devices such as iPhones or iPads.

Opening in Windows XP
Right click on the file. Select ‘Open with...’ & check ‘Select program from a list’
Select Internet Explorer which will probably be the recommended program anyway.

Opening in Windows 7
Right click on the file. Select ‘Open with...’ & Internet Explorer should come up as the recommended program, so double click to select it. Depending on your security settings, you may then see a warning about Active X controls.  Select ‘Click here for options...’ & ‘Allow blocked content’, then the Flash animation should appear.

When the animation stops, refresh the page or press F5 to start the sequence again.
